New Delhi: Around 700 students of class eleven and twelve standards and their teachers and staff of the reputed Bal Bharti Public School Pitampura observed ‘A day for Tibet’ at their school auditorium yesterday. The programme started with beautiful multi-cultural dance performance by young children of the school to welcome the guest speaker of the event, Mr Tenzin Lekshay, the media coordinator at the Bureau of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Delhi.
Mr Tenzin Lekshay spoke about the present critical situation inside Tibet and the dynamics of geo-political importance of Tibet in the Sino-India relation. The talk was followed by interaction with the students, during which the students raised questions such as what India should do in Tibetan freedom struggle and whereabouts of the missing Panchen Lama.
‘A day for Tibet’ or ‘An Hour for Tibet’ is an educational programme initiated by the Delhi based India Tibet Coordination in 2009 in different schools and colleges in Delhi NCR region. It is a free educational programme which includes talk on Tibet issue, documentary film screening and photo exhibition on His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Tibet.
