DHARAMSHALA, Feb. 19: The President of the exile Tibetan government known officially as the Central Tibetan Administration on Sunday at Reitaku University, Japan said that the Tibetan issue is intrinsically a matter of morals and justice with regards to the international community. He said that global advocacy of the Tibetan issue will invigorate the movement and keep the fight alive.

In his address on the issue, 'Tibet’s Tragedy and Future', he said, “Tibet is an issue of morality and moral is at the very core of Tibet issue. What we seek from China are freedom, justice and democracy, which are denied for the Tibetan people,” Dr Sangay told a gathering at the Reitaku University.

Dr. Lobsang Sangay who is on a week-long visit to Japan said his people need continued support and solidarity from the Japanese government and its people. He was reported saying that “support for the issue of Tibet sends a powerful message that the world supports morality and non-violent conflict resolution as Tibetans firmly stand for freedom, justice, non-violence and democracy.”

The Tibetan statesman who heads the exile Tibetan polity said that his recent visit to South Africa was marked with new chapter of support from the country despite Chinese government objection.

“The Chinese Embassy threatened South Africa that it will cancel Chinese investment when I visited the country. Some 30 Chinese shouted slogans and attempted to disrupt my scheduled talk at a Law University in South Africa. But the university officials decided to go ahead with their original plan and arranged my talk in another room, sending a powerful message that Chinese money is important but equally important is morality,” President Dr Sangay said.

The Japanese University which has specialised curriculum on Buddhism, morality and history also announced at the event that Tibetan students will be provided scholarships.

The Tibetan President is scheduled to visit Tokyo where he is scheduled to meet Japanese parliamentarians, interact with various Japanese media agencies and give public talks on the Tibetan issue until Feb. 23, the CTA run Tibet.net said.
