Nepal and China discuss further moves against Tibetans/ENG

(TibetanReview.net, Dec28, 2011)  China’s State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Mr Meng Jianzhu on Dec 26 held talks with Nepali Deputy Prime Minister Mr Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar in Beijing, vowing to further bilateral cooperation on the movement and activities of Tibetans, reported China’s official Xinhua news agency Dec 26. China appreciates Nepal's adherence to the one-China policy as well as its support on Tibet-related security issues, it cited Meng as saying.

Meng was also reported to have praised the effective cooperation and mutual support between security and home affairs departments of the two countries in safeguarding their own countries' stability and border security over the years. He has expressed readiness to make joint efforts with Nepal to enhance coordination in exit and entry administration, intelligence and information sharing, and law-enforcement education and training, in a bid to push forward bilateral law-enforcement cooperation.

Gachhadar, in turn, was cited as saying his country attached great importance to developing friendly cooperative relations with China and was willing to deepen bilateral law-enforcement cooperation.

He was reported to have also met with Zhou Yongkang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the Committee of Political and Legislative Affairs of the CPC Central Committee.

Gachhadar has reiterated his country’s adherence to the one-China policy, saying his government viewed Taiwan and Tibet as inalienable parts of China's territory and that it will not allow anyone to make use of Nepali territory to conduct separatist activities toward China. He has also thanked China for long-term support in infrastructure construction, law enforcement and security cooperation and human resources training.

Zhou has called Taiwan and Tibet concern China's core interests and hoped the two countries will further strengthen communication and cooperation in this regard.

Gachhadar was also scheduled to meet China’s Defense Minister Liang Guanglie on Dec 26 afternoon.
