The Special Task Force of the Kolkata Police on Wednesday have arrested two people for their alleged involvement in a recent low-intensity blast in Bodh Gaya, where Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama was teaching.

According to media reports, the two arrested are Paigamber Sheikh, 24, and Jamirul Sheikh, 31. They are said to be active members of Jammat-Ul-Mujahideen, Bangladesh, from West Bengal.

During interrogation, they are said to have admitted that they were part of the team which planted the IEDs (improvised explosive devices) in Bodh Gaya during the Dalai Lama’s visit.

Around 50 kg explosives including Ammonium Nitrate, one laptop, and other materials used to make explosives have been recovered from them.

Both the accused are residents of Murshidabad in West Bengal state.

On 19 January, a low-intensity bomb had gone off and two live bombs were detected near the Kalachakra ground, where the Dalai Lama was teaching to about 50,000 devotees from around the world.
