DHARAMSHALA, September 16: The Domey Cholka has called for unity amongst the three traditional provinces of Tibet, condemning all forms of malicious attacks against His Holiness the Dalai Lama during. The appeal was made at the 16th Central Executive Committee’s Special General Body Meeting today at Kirti Monastery.

The President of Domey Cholka’s Central Executive Committee, Nagba Gangri, at the inaugural ceremony of the three-day conference, called on everyone to respect and honor the democracy bestowed upon the Tibetans by His Holiness as a ‘prize’.

Attended by Speaker of Tibetan Parliament in Exile, Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, as the Chief Guest and Kirti Rinpoche, senior advisor to Domey Cholka as the special guest, recalled the late 33rd Menri Trizin, the spiritual head of Bon Tradition, who passed away on Thursday at around 6:25 p.m. at Pal Shenten Menriling Monastery in Dolanji, Himachal Pradesh.

Kirti Rinpoche reminded that Tibetans have a collective responsibility to fulfill the wishes of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

He added, “Different provinces and Sects were not founded to become a cause of segregation within the community. Hence, anything related to it should take a secondary priority and our collective goal (Tibetan struggle) should take the priority.”

Rinpoche also advised everyone to remember the 2016 election saying what happened in the past must be taken as a lesson to avoid such unfortunate events in the future.

Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel said that Tibetans of all the provinces have so far lived united in joy and sorrow under the care of His Holiness. He said Tibetans must all put their efforts together till the dream of unification with Tibetans inside Tibet is realized.

“As of today, our main responsibility is to conserve and preserve our traditional culture and language and refrain from criticizing each other,” the speaker said while stressing on the dire situation faced by Tibetans inside Tibet.

The Tibetan activist who disappeared without any trace in 2015, Lingtsa Tseten Dorjee was honored with Peace Award, which was accepted by his mother Dompo Kyi on his behalf.
