Speech of Tibor Hendrey leader of Tibet Support Association at the demonstration
Nothing has changed in Tibet since 1959, at least as far as happiness or well-being is concerned. However, the "motherland" embraces tighter and tighter and more confidently its stolen possession, Tibet. This hybrid golem China, which alloys the worst features of capitalism and communism, is tightening its lethal maternal embrace using increasingly sophisticated methods.

It is alarming and typical of the present situation that the Tibetan people led by the Dalai Lama can not protest in any other way but by turning against themselves. By the ever "credible" reports from China, the Dalai Lama himself urges the Tibetan people to self-immolate just to get his own theocratic ideas re-established. Despite the Chinese propaganda rhetoric and lies, the Dalai Lama has clearly stated, though he can understand his people’s frustration he completely opposes the self-immolations, firstly, because of the principles against taking one’s own life, moreover as it can’t bring any political or actual resolution. Over the past two years, 102 Tibetan monks and other persons have committed self-immolation. Of those who have assumed this heroic sacrifice at least eighty died as the consequence of this terrible, voluntarily undertaken act. They could call attention to their oppression, humiliation, physical destruction and despair and disappointment only by using their bodies as a flaming torch.

Or so the Tibetans may think. Unfortunately, this is not what is happening. The Dalai Lama was right, these sacrifices have not improved the situation in Tibet but have given a new pretext to the Chinese authorities to torment the monks and local people furthermore. Another consequence is, it seems, the public opinion of global politics has become even more indifferent and apathetic regarding Tibet. Although here and there all kinds of condemning resolutions are approved addressing China, but these really do not obstruct the unbridled terror, only poison the soul of our planet.
There are some countries which do not even want to take notice of the absurdity of the Sino-Tibetan relationship and they just keep repeating the one-China principle. Which, anyway, has never been challenged by the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government in exile, not to mention the Tibetan people, who simply want to live, work, preserve faith and love in their homeland, in Tibet. Unfortunately, the above-mentioned countries have included Hungary for decades as well.
Here, we can even see when a high-rank Chinese delegation arrives the Tibetan refugees are collected by the authorities to get them out of sight. The same applies to the Tibetan flag, though it symbolizes the same notion as the Székely flag, which is rightly swaying on the walls of many town halls. Both nations want to achieve a real and viable autonomy, with the difference that Tibetans have no opportunity even to wish for it anymore. The Tibetan people have lost all their rights and live amidst a cultural and ethnic genocide while being deprived of their identity as slaves in their own ancestral homeland. Tibet has become a symbol by now and the struggle of those defending Tibet represents something which is far beyond human rights problems.
.
In Tibet we can see almost all the garbage and evil our world has accumulated for thousands of years both in mental and physical terms, including conscious brutality against violence-free and peaceful resistance. They protest peacefully as the Tibetan tradition holds that violence begets violence and perpetuates it. With this thought, they represent the most progressive political philosophy of the world today. According to the Dalai Lama there is no alternative to this thought. The politicians of the "motherland" utilizing the well proven methodology of sending Chinese settlers to Tibet for generations can take the result for granted which is the complete disruption of the population, culture, language and religion and the demoralization of the people.

The only obstacle the Chinese could not have foreseen in Tibet is the Tibetan people's determination, self-confidence, strength and faith in themselves and in the XIV. Dalai Lama, who is now one of the world's most credible public figure – if not the only one. If anyone knows a more credible religious leader, politician or ruler, please contact me in the form of a public letter.

Tibet has long been, but even more so during the self-immolations, the test of the future of the Chinese empire, but perhaps even more so of our world. Will there be a habitable world, or the more people there are the greater the violence, selfishness, lies and exploitation grow. Let’s demonstrate on 10 March 2013, at least here in Budapest, that there are people who want a different world, and let’s show China that even in such a remote country like Hungary - there are people who will never  forget Tibet. It is vital for us as well.
