DHARAMSHALA, June 27: A mock drill was carried out late Thursday night here from the residence of the exiled Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama in McLeod Ganj. This is the second drill conducted in just over a month, in case of a medical emergency for the octogenarian Tibetan leader.

A convoy of cars including a lead police car, an ambulance and few other vehicles passed through the narrow streets of the hill town in the evening today.

Earlier last month on May 21, security authorities of the Tibetan leader carried out a mock drill where traffic was blocked, and a convoy of police cars, ambulance and other vehicles made its way from McLeod Ganj to the nearest full-fledged hospital or the nearby Gaggal Airport where he can be airlifted.

The Tibetan leader will reach the age of 84 early next month. A recent ailment for the ageing Tibetan leader saw mass concern from Tibetans and followers from around the world. It was later learned that the Dalai Lama suffered from minor infection in the lung and was treated and discharged from a Hospital in New Delhi in a few days' time.

The Dalai Lama has, on a several occasions, publicly said that he is confident of living at least till the age of 100 or according to some of his dreams even 113, much to the delight of his followers.
