China / Human rights
Following serious events which took place in Sichuan, last Monday, France
expresses her deep concern as regards to the last events in the Tibetan areas in
China.
France, in the same way as her European Union’s partners, reminds of her
commitment to the respect of human rights, religious freedom and thoughts, together
with the preservation of Tibetan culture and customs. She feels that dialogue is
the only way to reach a sustainable resolution, fully taking into account the Tibetan
cultural and spiritual identity, within the People’s Republic of China.
These messages are frequently reminded to the Chinese authorities within the frame
of our political contacts and of the EU-China dialogue on Human Rights.
