The Dalai Lama returns to his exile home/ENG

DHARAMSHALA, January 12: Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama today returned to his exile home of Dharamshala, northern India after successfully concluding his 32nd Kalachakra teachings.

Over 200,000 devotees attended the Kalachakra teachings held from January 1-10, in Bodh Gaya from 63 countries world wide including from Tibet and mainland China.

Following the completion of the teachings, the 76-year old Tibetan spiritual leader headed straight from Bodh Gaya to Pune where he spoke on the third day of the second Indian Student Parliament at MIT College on Thursday.

Appealing to the youth of India to join politics to end corruption, the Dalai Lama noted that politics in itself is not dirty.

"So I say that the dirty politics must change. Who is going to change that? If we pray to God please come to India and clean this up, it is unrealistic. Young India, you should clean up all these negative things. No one else can,” the Dalai Lama was quoted by ANI as saying.

Speaking on the topic, 'Yes, India Can,' the Tibetan spiritual leader who has been living as a refugee in India since 1959, expressed his confidence in the youth of India at the three-day event which served as a platform for young representatives of universities from across India to express their views on critical issues faced by the country

"Unlike the time of our generation, when violence took a precedence over non-violence, the young generation of the 21st century has shown that complex issues can be resolved through dialogue and discussion. Violence can never bring about a positive change but only complicates the problem," the Dalai Lama was quoted by TNN as saying.

"The real change in rural India will happen with the development of education, health facility and modern farming methods," he added.
