Dalai Lama leaves on 20-day tour of South India/ENG

DHARAMSHALA, December 7: Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama today left Dharamshala early in the morning for a 20-day trip to South India covering Mumbai, Mundgod, Bylakuppe and Bengaluru.

His Holiness’s first stop will be at Vidyaloke Foundation in Mumbai. He is scheduled to have private teachings and public talk from December 8-10. His talk ‘Reviving Indian Wisdom in Contemporary India’ at Somaiya Vidyavihar Campus in Mumbai falls on the December 10, coinciding with the 28th Anniversary of conferment of Nobel Peace Prize on His Holiness.

Following his brief stay in the financial capital of India, the Tibetan spiritual leader will visit two of the largest Tibetan settlements. His first visit will be to Mungod where he will be inaugurating the Drepung Loseling Meditation and Science Center on December 14. His stay there will be from December 11-17.

The 82-year-old leader will on December 20 confer Hayagriva Initiation (Tib: Tamding Yangsang Kawang) at Sera Je Monastery in Bylakuppe. He will be inaugurating the new debating courtyard of Sera Mey Monastery followed by a teaching on Tsongkhapa's In Praise of Dependent Origination (Tib: Tendrel Toepa) the following day.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be in Bengaluru from December 24-26 before leaving for Delhi on December 27.

After his South India trip, His Holiness the Dalai Lama will embark on a 50-day visit to Bodhgaya giving teachings, attending social commitments as well as taking rest. He will give two three-day teachings, the first from January 5 - 7 and the second is scheduled from January 14 – 16.
