DHARAMSHALA, July 5: Five out of six Minister of the exile Tibetan government in exile, known officially as the Central Tibetan Administration, are currently on separate official visits around the globe to attend 83rd birthday celebrations of the Dalai Lama as well as other official engagements.

With the President Dr. Lobsang Sangay in Ladakh to join in the celebrations of the Dalai Lama’s 83rd birthday on Saturday, Education Minister Dr. Pema Yangchen is the lone member of the ruling cabinet that is present in the seat of the exile Tibetan polity here. She is scheduled to attend the festivities here on July 7.

Senior member of the Sangay led cabinet, Home Minister Sonam Topgyal Khorlatsang is on a tour to the US and Canada. He is scheduled to attend His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 83rd birthday celebration organised by Tibetan community of New York and New Jersey.

Karma Gelek Yuthok, Minister for Religion and Culture, is on an official visit to Switzerland, Austria and UK as part of Kashag’s program visit to the Tibetan communities, CTA run Tibet.net said. He will attend the “Thank You Switzerland and Austria event” organised by Office of Tibet.

Minster of Security Phagpa Tsering is on an official trip to New Zealand and Australia where he will meet and interact with Tibetan communities based in Auckland, Melbourne and Canberra.

Health Minister Choekyong Wangchuk is currently in Japan until July 8. He earlier visited Taiwan where he celebrated the ‘Thank you Taiwan’ event. He is scheduled to meet parliamentarians and Tibet supporters in these countries, CTA said. On July 6, he will attend a prayer service organised by the Liaison Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to release 1 lakh fish into river for the long life of His Holiness, marking the 83rd birthday of the Tibetan leader.

Finance Minister Karma Yeshi is on a 15-day visit to European nations of France, Belgium, Netherlands and Spain. In France, he will attend the official birthday celebration of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in the National Assembly as well as the Tibetan communities there in addition to holding meetings with AET members on July 7. The Minister is also scheduled to be “engaged in green book related matters” at various venues during his official visit, CTA run Tibet.net said.
