DHARAMSHALA, Mar. 30: The number of Tibetans infected with the COVID-19 has risen to six as three more Tibetans are found to be COVID- 19 positive; two Tibetans in Europe and one in North America.

The President of the exile Tibetan Government, known officially as the Central Tibetan Administration Dr. Lobsang Sangay during a live update on Facebook on Saturday said that two Tibetans, one in Switzerland and another in Italy, have tested positive for COVID-19.

Also, a Tibetan woman, a nurse by profession in the United States also revealed her condition via a live post. She shared her experiences dealing with the disease and urged people to be cautious of the outbreak while also advising not to panic in such situations.

There is currently no information on the other two cases.

Earlier, Phayul learned that a Tibetan youth in France also contracted the virus. Last week two elderly Tibetans, each in London and Dharamshala passed away after being infected with the virus.

The Tibetan President said that family and close contact of the deceased in Dharamshala have been found negative for the disease after test results came back. The immediate family, their travel companions as well as the taxi driver were all confirmed to be free of the COVID-19 virus. The same information was confirmed by the Kangra District Commissioner Rakesh Prajapati.

According to the Indian Ministry of Health, there are 942 confirmed cases, 99 cured patients and 29 deaths as of Monday.
