Tibetan Singer Arrested in Yushu

A well-known Tibetan singer has been arrested for singing political songs by the local police officers of Dhomda village, Trindu (Chinese: Chengdu) County, Jyekundo (Chinese: Yushu) Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province.
 
On 19 April 2012, Tibetan singer Lo Lo was arrested and taken away by the local police officers. A few months earlier, 29-yr-old Lo Lo had released an album titled “Raise the Tibetan Flag, Children of the Snow land”.
 
The album contained 14 songs with lyrics calling for Tibet’s independence, unity of the Tibetan people and the return of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Tibet.
 
A portion of the title song’s lyrics goes like:
 
“To secure the legacy of Tibetan independence
To resist the Chinese Communist forces
Through the true Middle path
Children of the snow land, raise the Tibetan flag
To promote the snow-white patriotism
To regain the complete independence of the true nature [of the Tibetan struggle]
Children of the snow land, raise the Tibetan flag
In order for our savior to return
And for the reunification of Tibetans in and outside Tibet
Is possible only through sacrificing one’s lives
Children of the snow land, raise the Tibetan flag
To account for the loss of lives of Tibetan heroes
Children of the snow land, raise the Tibetan flag”.
