DHARAMSHALA, October 16: Five Tibetan men will participate in the maiden Tibetan manhunt Mr. Tibet 2017 organized by Yak Events at the Tibetan Institute of Performing Art (TIPA) here on October 28, the organizer told reporters at a press conference at Norbu House today.

Aimed at developing awareness of physical health amongst Tibetan youths, Tenzin Tashi, CEO of Yak Events said, “More and more Tibetan youth these days take interest in physical fitness and this event would provide them a great platform and also act as an encouragement for them. This is especially for the Tibetan youth.”

The organizer of ‘Tibet Got Talent’ also added that it would also serve as a good platform for the contestants to become a good role model for the younger generations in terms of physical health.

The five contestants are Nyima from Bengaluru, Karma Thutop from Bir, Tenzin Londen from Hunsur Rabgyaling Tibetan settlement, Tsering Choephel from Bengaluru and Lobsang Choephel from Dharamshala.

Tashi, who is a DJ by profession, said that the five finalists would be competing for a grand prize of INR 1,10,000. The first runner-up would receive INR 70,000 and the second runner-up INR 40,000.

The contestants will have to go through five rounds through the four days starting from ‘Sports and Fitness round’ on October 25 and ‘Swim Trunk round’ on October 26 morning followed by ‘Fashion and Glamour round’ and ‘Multimedia round’. On October 27 the ‘Talent and Q&A round’ will happen and the grand finale will be on October 28.

The organizer also sees the pageant as a means through which Tibetans can venture into other professions besides the usual choices of organizational employee, teachers, nurse or army.

“We are also putting efforts to realize our main aim of having the winner of Mr. Tibet title to take part in the Mr. World,” said Tashi.

The event’s eligibility criteria are that a contestant should be between the age of 18 to 28-years-old with height above 5 feet and 7 inches. They should be bachelors with no criminal records and should be a bonafide Tibetan.
