DHARAMSHALA, February 27: The local police are yet to find any lead into a reportedly failed attempt to blow up two buildings near Nechung Monastery in Gangchen Kyishong on Friday.

The incident was reported to the police after a tenant of one of the buildings noticed three gas cylinders covered by a red carpet with a running room heater and a five-liter petrol adjacent to it. The investigating team also found two gas cylinders, a heater and fifteen liters of petrol in another building.

Both the tenants, a Tibetan and a foreigner, living on the ground floor of the buildings were out of station during the Tibetan festive season of Losar.

According to the police, one of the three cylinders belonged to the tenant and the remaining two were brought in. It is suspected that the items for the explosion were brought into the rooms through its ventilators, which were found broken. Police found traces of attempts made by to break the locks to the doors.

Sunil Kumar, head of Dharamshala Police Station, has assured that the matter is being investigated thoroughly and as of now neither the landlord or tenants have come forward to lodge any complaint related to this incident.

The investigating team after its initial investigation have identified that the Monex brand heaters kept along with the cylinders are not available in and around Dharamshala. Police suspect they may have been brought from outside the city or state.

The four-floor building occupied mostly by Tibetan tenants had 14 people present at the time of the incident.
