DHARAMSHALA, Jan. 17: The Library of Tibetan Works and Archives and Central University of Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on common Tibetan and Indian themes.
LTWA Director Ven. Geshe Lhakdor and CUHP Vice Chancellor Prof. Kuldeep Agnihotri signed the MoU here at the Tibetan library in the presence of authorities and staff of both the collaborating organizations.
Director Lhakdor said he hopes of a “fruitful relationship” collaborating with CUHP, “As His Holiness the Dalai Lama says, we Tibetans have repeatedly advocated the revivalism of ancient Indian cultures here in its country of origin, I feel collaborating with Indian Universities is the way to go forward in realizing the ideal. Through this MoU, we will collaborate and exchange expertise on common themes.”
Vice Chancellor of CUHP Kuldeep Agnihotri expressed delight in collaboration with LTWA which he called a nexus for central Asian studies. Prof. Agnihotri also said his university and LTWA may kick start initiatives to facilitate an M.Phil level Tibetan Studies in the near future.
The Tibetan Library has also signed MoU with many other educational organizations such as Sao Paulo University in Brazil, Buryat State University in Siberia, Moscow University in Russia, Dongguk University in Korea as well as Emory University among others.
