DHARAMSHALA, MAY 4: The United States’ Ambassador to India Kenneth Juster today called on the Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama at the latter’s residence here.

“I was very inspired by his presence. We had a discussion on a broad range of subjects. It will be terrific if he were able to travel to America at some point of time”, Ambassador Juster told reporters after the meeting.

Juster said he was visiting the exile Tibetan headquarters for the first time and that his visit was fruitful. Juster also visited the Tibetan Children’s Village school yesterday and interacted with the children there.

Juster told media persons that the Tibetan said inner peace of an individual can spread to become a collective peace effort.

The Kashag of the Central Tibetan Administration also hosted an official dinner reception followed by cultural performances at the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts for the visiting dignitary.

The ambassador is accompanied by a four-member delegation from the US embassy consisting of Anood Taqui, Special Assistant; Derek Westfall, Deputy Political minister Counselor; Thomas Kress, USAID, and Raj Marwaha, USAID.

A former US government official, Ambassador Kenneth Juster was appointed as the US ambassador to India in November 2017. He previously served as the Deputy Assistant to the President for International Economic Affairs and Deputy Director of the National Economic Council in the United States Government from January 2017 to June 2017.

Representative of Bureau of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in New Delhi, Ngodup Dongchung is accompanying the delegation.
