DHARAMSHALA, Sept. 13: His Holiness the Dalai Lama at the long life prayer offering ceremony(tenshug) this morning at Tsuglakhang temple said Tibetans have a strong spirit of Tibetaness and lived in solidarity as one entity.

Thanking the organizers of the tenshug today, he said the Tibetans are at a very difficult time in their history and all that those present at the ceremony represent the sincere trust and hope of Tibetans inside Tibet and all over the world.

Tibetan Cooperative Society, the Gonjo Community, the Tibetan community in Bhutan, Shang Gaden Choekhor, Chushi Gandruk, and Rabgang Sonam Paljor family were able to offer tenshug after it was postponed last month by His Holiness’ visit to Manali.

Talking about history of Tibetans being one entity, he said “we are not talking about what was known as Tibet, according to the Shimla treaty but all Tibetans living in Tibetan area.”

He said although Tibetans have lived rather fragmented in past owing to division within Tibetan land for those under Tibetan jurisdiction and Chinese jurisdiction, Tibetans have come together to face difficulties and live in solidarity as one people as during the times of Tibetan emperor in ancient times.

“Tibetans trust me and keep their hope in me during the last 60 years of our exile and there are no refugees like the Tibetans living in unity with our tradition and values.”

He said with the long term focus on education implemented by Tibetan exile government in its early history, as per the advice of India’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, had born fruit and that Tibetans everywhere in the world today are dedicating themselves for the Tibet cause.

He spoke about his interaction with modern scientists as a disciple of the Nalanda tradition of Buddhism and encouraged Buddhist practitioners to engage in discussion with Scientist and investigate Buddha’s teaching as encouraged by the teacher.

“Those interested in Tibetan Buddhism invariably helps the Tibet cause gain traction.

He lauded Tibetans for preserving their religion and culture successfully, adding that it could serve all of humanity. He encouraged learning Tibetan language as it remains the most precise language in studying and explaining Buddhist philosophy, psychology, and epistemology.
