DHARAMSHALA, Oct. 7: Tibetans in Queensland, Australia, joined Taiwanese, Vietnamese, Uighurs, Hong Kongers and representative of Transparency for University in Queensland (T4UQ) on Sunday morning to protest against the continuing oppression of Chinese Communist Party (CCP.

The protest at the Queens Garden that follows the CCP’s recent celebration of the 70th founding anniversary of the People's Republic of China (PRC) demanded an end to the Chinese government’s human rights violations in Tibet, East Turkestan and Honk Kong and its growing influence in Australia and Vietnam.

The gathering of about 100 protestors carrying their respective national flags sang the Australian national anthem and called for Australian people to support them in their struggle for democratic principles.

Their concerns were reflected on white placards they carried as “Australia, beware of Chinese Communists’ silent invasion,” “No to the cyber security law in Vietnam,” “Hong Kong S.O.S” and “Down with Chinese communist,” among others.

Speaking on the occasion, the President of the Queensland Tibetan Community Doring Tenzin Phuntsok lauded the diverse gathering for coming together. “We are fighting against a common enemy that has might on its side and it is not going to be an even fight but it has not been able to crush our spirit which is as strong as CCP’s military might,” said Phuntsok.

“90% of Tibetans in Australia are either former political prisoners or family members, who are real-life examples of CCP’s intolerance toward democratic aspirations,” the Tibetan community leader added.

Exhorting the crowd to call for "Free China," Doring explained that only 90 million out of more than one billion Chinese support the CCP. He postulated that His Holiness the Dalai Lama, who had promised to live for another quarter of a century, will outlive the Communist regime in China.

Drew Pavlou, the student leader representing T4UQ donned a Free Tibet t-shirt and spoke in support of the Tibetan freedom movement.

The student leader had come out in support of Hong Kong and Tibetan student activists at Queensland University in the past and publicly condemned Chinese students for obstructing activities critical of CCP.

The anti-CCP protest by these nationalities touted to be the first of a kind in the continent extended its solidarity with the Hong Kong protestors in their quest for a democratic future.
