DHARAMSHALA, November 4: The Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama said that despite going through tough times for the past 60 years Tibetans have not lost hope and that they should be proud of it. The octogenarian spiritual leader was speaking on the sidelines of a conference on Science, Religion and World Peace at the Government Degree College in Dharamshala today.

“Even the Chinese hardliners after 60 years of occupation they are now on the verge of contemplating new polices towards Tibet. It is all due to the undying Tibetan spirit and determination. Moreover, we are pursuing on the path of nonviolence,” the exiled Tibetan leader said, especially to the Tibetan students attending the conference.

He also added that the non violent approach adopted by Tibetans in resolving the Tibet issue is an example of Tibetan spirit and quality.

“We all should be very proud of it but we must keep in mind not to be arrogant about it. We should be proud from within that we do not have to fear or concede to anyone,” His Holiness said.

The Tibetan spiritual leader also reminded them of the importance of the Tibetan language which he said was the only language that can interpret the scriptures of Nalanda Tradition.

“Along with the modern education, you must study the 1000-year-old ancient Tibetan knowledge and tradition. I have always maintained that we Tibetans must be fluent in both traditional and modern knowledge,” he said.
