Venerable Thubten Wangchen – Biography
Thubten Wangchen was born in Tibet in 1954. He is a Buddhist monk, a disciple of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, and a member of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile whose headquarters are in Dharamsala, India.

At five years of age he crossed the Himalayas fleeing the Chinese invasion. He entered a school in Dalhousie, India. In December 1994, at the suggestion and advice of H.H. the Dalai Lama, he founded the Tibet House in Barcelona, Spain, with the aim of promoting the dissemination and defense of the Tibetan culture, human rights, cooperation and solidarity with the Tibetan people in exile, especially through education and health programs.

In September of 2007 he organized a visit by the Dalai Lama in Barcelona, which was attended by more than 10,000 people. In 2011 he was elected member of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile, becoming one of the two representatives for Europe and later on he was reelected in 2016. In 2012, Wangchen promoted the “Flame of Truth” for Tibet, a campaign advocating for Human Rights with the support of the Tibetan Central Administration. He traveled through America, Europe and Asia.

From September 2 to November 8 of 2019 he took a road trip traveling through 30 European countries in the “Dialogue for Peace” campaign urging a dialogue between the Dalai Lama and Xi Jinping.
