DHARAMSHALA, Mar. 22: On Monday in Beijing, China’s ‘National People’s Congress’, a perfunctory organ of the Chinese government approved President Xi Jinping’s new cabinet members, days after it ratified the constitutional amendment for the removal of term limit for the country’s presidency.

The new top leaders of the revamped administration under Xi saw Wang Qishan as the Vice President, Li Keqiang retained as the Premier, Han Zheng as the Executive Vice Premier, and Sun Chunlan, Hu Chunhua, Liu He and Han Zheng as Vice Premiers. The new top rung leaders were approved by nearly 3,000 deputies of the National People’s Congress.

While Former missile unit commander, Lieutenant General Wei Fenghe, was named the new defence minister, Wang Yi is retained as the Foreign Minister in addition to also being promoted to a state councillor. He is now assigned two of the most coveted roles of a diplomat.

Chen Wenqing remains the security czar overseeing the country’s internal security, including espionage and counterintelligence as well as the so called ‘counter terrorism’ wing that observers say is heavily used as a tool to thumb down dissidents, primarily in minority areas such as the restive Xinjiang region.

Yi Gang, regarded as a reformist has been appointed as the new governor of China’s central bank, the People's Bank of China, marking a shift in the said space, replacing Zhou Xiaochuan who has headed the central bank for over a decade and a half, and during who’s tenure China overthrew Japan as the second largest economy in the world.

Xi Jinping’s new reshuffled administration will have 26 ministries and commissions with new additions such as the veterans' affairs and emergency management and ministry of natural resources, which will oversee trillions of dollars worth of mining operations in occupied Tibet.
