BUDAPEST, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- China hopes to strengthen cooperation in law enforcement and security with Hungary, Guo Shengkun, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee said here on Monday.

Guo, also head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks when meeting separately with Hungarian Parliament Speaker Laszlo Kover and Hungarian Minister of Interior Sandor Pinter.

During his meeting with Kover, Guo said that China is willing to further implement the consensus reached by the two countries' leadership, build up mutual political trust, deepen pragmatic cooperation and enhance law enforcement and security cooperation with Hungary.

In meeting with Pinter, Guo mentioned the Interior Minister's contributions to the development of high-level Sino-Hungarian relations and his respect and support of China's core interests and major concerns.

Noting that next year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Hungary, Guo told Pinter that he hopes the two countries can work together on the construction of the Belt and Road, advance the cooperation between China and the Central and Eastern European countries, and strengthen law enforcement and security cooperation.

Both Kover and Pinter agreed that it is in both countries' interests to further enhance bilateral ties and deepen pragmatic cooperation.

They said that Hungary supports the Belt and Road Initiative, and the Hungarian side is willing to improve communication and coordination with China. Hungary is also willing to strengthen law enforcement and security cooperation with China, and advance cooperation between China and the Central and Eastern European countries.
