DHARAMSHALA, July 11: The Governor of Jammu and Kashmir state called on the Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama at the latter’s residence in Leh, Ladakh.
Governor Shri Narinder Nath Vohra met with the Dalai Lama at the latter’s residence at Shiwatsel Phodrang. Nath was accompanied by his advisors, Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary, Planning.
During the meeting, the two discussed the importance of dialogue when dealing with conflicting ideas and viewpoints and adoption of the same as a means to resolve differences. The study and revival of the ancient Indian knowledge to tackle emotions at an individual as well as institutional level were also among topics discussed, sources said.
The octogenarian Tibetan leader will give teachings on Shantideva’s A Guide to the Bodhisatva’s Way of Life (Tib: Chodjug) from July 10 - 12 and participate in the Yarcho Chenmo-the annual ‘Summer Buddhist Council’ of philosophical debate and discussion – from July 18 to 20 at Samstanling Gonpa Sumoor in Nubra besides teachings in Nubra as well as in Leh at Shiwaitsel teaching ground.
