DHARAMSHALA, October 14: Tibetan Prime Minister Dr Lobsang Sangay has congratulated the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize winners Malala Yousafzai and Kailash Satyarthi.

Malala, 17 and Kailash, 60, shared the honor this year "for their struggle against the suppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education."

Commending for her contribution to the basic rights and education of children, Sangay said, “Malala Yousafzai’s fight and struggle for girl’s right to education and her determination is heroic and iconic to the rest of the world.”

Malala became the youngest Nobel Peace Prize recipient and is the first Pakistani to receive this honor.
In 2012, she was shot in the head by a Taliban gunman in Pakistan for insisting that girls have the right to education. Her recovery and activism efforts continue in Birmingham, England, a worldwide inspiration for her spirit and determination.

In his congratulatory note to Kailash, Tibetan PM said, “His non-violent protests and demonstrations are an inspiration to many.”

In 1980, Kailash founded a group Bachpan Bachao Andolan (Save the Childhood Movement) to fight against child trafficking.

Tibetan PM Dr Sangay is currently in Prague attending the 18th Annual Forum 2000 and took part in a panel discussion yesterday on a theme titled “The Significance of Vaclav Havel’s Value Based Foreign Policy”.
