DHARAMSHALA: The Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile has expressed sadness at the demise of Margaret Thatcher, former prime minister of the United Kingdom.
“Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile is deeply saddened by the demise of Baroness Margaret Thatcher, Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. She, as you mentioned was not only a great Briton but also one of the most towering leaders of the last century in the world” the Tibetan parliament stated in a letter addressed to Mr David Cameron, the incumbent prime minister of the United Kingdom.
She was the longest-serving British Prime Minister, having served as prime minister from 1979 – 1990, and is the only woman to have held the office. Known for her steely resolve and unyielding, outspoken demeanour, she was also called the “Iron Lady”.
