DHARAMSHALA, April 16: The Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama met a sizable contingent of tourists from various parts of the world here at his monastery adjoining his residence in McLeod Ganj. Over a thousand foreigners and Indians listened and interacted with the egalitarian leader earlier today.

The Dalai Lama who have often spoken on his mission to promote human values, reiterated the importance of embracing oneness of humanity in an ever connected world and its consequent dependency between human beings.

He said, “There are over seven billion human beings on this planet. Unlike animals, we humans are equipped with the faculty to think and communicate. We should use this faculty to foster harmony and peace,” His Holiness said.

“If we keep thinking about oneself, then the world will become very lonely. For instance, if I think of myself as the Dalai Lama and the rest as others, I will be very lonely,” the Tibetan leader said.

The tourists from 68 countries spanning all continents also engaged in Q&A session with the Tibetan leader who was recently polled among the 10 most admired men on earth. The Tibetan leader is seen as the authority among living Buddhist figures and a global leader advocating peace over the last few decades.

The soon to be 83-year-old said that physically and emotionally, human beings are the same. "At the emotional level we all are the same human being. We have same potential of forgiveness, compassion and tolerance. Also we all have anger, hatred but there are two types of emotions, destructive and constructive emotions," the octogenarian leader said.
